I went on a search earlier this summer. I have had several kidney stones and was researching the best home remedies. Come to find out Lemonade is great. It’s been a staple in our fridge all summer long.
It’s so easy and just has 3 ingredients. It’s perfectly sweet and makes a great summer drink for BBQs and parties (or with Titos).
6 to 8 - Lemons - Fresh lemons are essential to get that fresh-squeezed taste. Depending on your size of lemons, you will need about 6 to 8 lemons.
TIP: 6 to 8 medium size lemons will get you about 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice.
2 Cups - Granulated Sugar - White granulated sugar. This is how you will make your simple syrup.
5 Cups - Water - This really depends on how sweet you like your lemonade.
STEP 1: Make Simple Syrup - Add sugar and 2 cups of water to a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and then cool to room temperature.
STEP 2: Juice Your Lemons - Well this is pretty self explanatory.
STEP 3: Combine Syrup and Lemon Juice - Add more water, taste, until you get the right sweetness.
STEP 4: Chill & Serve Cold
Strawberries are a staple in our house no matter the season! Here are a few of our favorite recipes.
Carton of Fresh Strawberries
1/2 Cup - Stevia
1/2 Cup - Honey - We mix up the brands but just your favorite local honey.
STEP 1: Wash Berries, Take Tops Off, Slice, and Put in Mixing Bowl
STEP 2: Mix Berries with Stevia - I usually less than a 1/2 cup. Depending on the season of the strawberries and how sweet they are. In the middle of winter… you are going to need the 1/2 of cup
STEP 3: Mix in Honey - We usually just add a little.. mix it all together… and taste it.
This is perfect for your pound cakes or my daughter just loves a big bowl with some whipped cream
Paring Knife
Large Mixing Bowl
Large Spoon
1 Gallon of Strawberries
Sugar (Yes… gasp - you need real sugar but see below for healthy fresh version)
Fruit Fresh
STEP 1: Wash Berries, Take Tops Off, Slice, and Put in Mixing Bowl
STEP 2: Add Sugar - About 1/2 Cup to every 4 Cups of Berries
STEP 3: Put about 1/4 Cup of “Fruit Fresh”
STEP 4: Stir. Let stand stir every now and then until the juices forms
STEP 5: Put in the freezer bags and freeze.
These make the perfect winter snack, strawberries cobbler (my favorite), or thaw for your strawberry shortcakes.
